Upon my first visit, we had travelled through the woods from across the
street (this was approx. 2:am). I had heard growling sounds and footsteps,
which is natural when considering the inhabitants of rural areas and of
course the surrounding homes. near the exit to the street there is a
remainder of a building foundation. the foundation is stone which leads me to
believe it was very (there is a story of a haunted church of chapel in the
area, perhaps this is it).
When crossing the street we entered through another woods area (the area that
hosts the Spider Gates cemetery).  we walked along the path across a stream
where there was a sign posted "The River Styx" (the river styx is the river
of the dead which ties into the Spider Gates legends). It seems rather
obvious to me that this sign was posted by someone who was hip to the whole
legend. Anyways, the path just beyond the stream leads to the Spider Gates
cemetary (the official name is not "spider gates" it is "friends" and the
ground is owned by local Quakers.) The gates have some interesting iron work
(the orignal gates are said to actually be in a museum somewhere). We entered
the gates ( i do not recall as to whether we left the gates open or shut) and
began looking at the gravestones ( you will notice the recurrence of common
surnames which indicates that it belongs to a somewhat small clan of
individuals/family) and the surroundings. From hearing the "8 gates of Hell"
legend, i naturally expected to see another "spider gate." which i did not. I
began looking for the alleged "hanging tree" (rumor has it that two
individuals have hung themselves there). Again i had heard a growling sound
(no big deal, if you are from an urban area and go out to extremely rural
area in the middle of the night you should expect to hear some unfamiliar
sounds). Then, as i was standing on what was been claimed to be the "altar"
(an extremely flat surface in the cemetery) i watched what appeared to be a
young man ( i reckon about 15 or so pale with dark hair) walk around the
perimeter of the graveyard in a matter of a few seconds towards where the
cemetary steeps down a small hill or enbankment and there are tall stones. We
walked over to that area and observed the stones. I reasoned that if this boy
was a ghost or demon that it actually might be leading us to some ill fate,
so i thought we should be careful. Now, you could reason these stones to be
the famed "8 gates" (in which case i passed through all of them without
experiencing any of the phenomena associated with the legend; at each gate
you are supposed to experience heightening levels of paranormal activity and
legend claims "nobody has made it through all 8 gates" ) After, my first
experience, i have read from another source that the assemblance of these
stones are the 8 gates. We lingered for a short while and i decided taht we
should leave. we walked through the woods across the street to get to our
vehicle, and on that route i heard one more growling sound.
